WASHINGTON, DC –  Today, The American Border Story (TABS) issued the following statement commending Florida state and local law enforcement for the swift apprehension of an illegal immigrant who brutally bludgeoned a woman to death at a gas station in Fort Myers:

“Last week, Rolbert Joachin, an illegal immigrant from Haiti, used a hammer to kill a woman in Florida in a horrific, violent attack. Local law enforcement, working in coordination with ICE, acted quickly and decisively to apprehend this dangerous criminal. As a result, DHS confirmed that Joachin ‘will be deported regardless of the outcome of this case.’

“In 2022, a federal judge issued an order of removal against Joachin. However, the Biden Administration decided to grant him Temporary Protected Status (TPS). More than a year after Joe Biden left office, American families continue to suffer as a result of his radical, soft-on-crime policies. While we commend the brave men and women in law enforcement for ensuring this suspect is off the streets and facing justice, this tragedy should never have happened in the first place. Policies that shield illegal immigrants and delay enforcement only create more opportunities for violence and loss.

“TABS stands firmly with law enforcement and calls for an end to the failed Biden-era immigration policies that allow dangerous individuals to remain in our country. American families deserve safety, accountability, and a government that puts them first.”
