WASHINGTON, DC – Today, The American Border Story (TABS) issued the following statement in slamming congressional Democrats for demanding DHS implement new “warrant procedures and standards” that would greatly hinder ICE’s ability to carry out critical enforcement operations:
“The demands made by congressional Democrats this week were reckless and preposterous. These proposals would tie ICE’s hands by needlessly implementing new warrant mandates, crippling immigration enforcement efforts and putting American communities at greater risk.
“These restrictions would slow arrests and make it harder to detain and deport criminal illegal aliens. Under Democrat leadership, the status quo resulted in more violent offenders released onto our streets, more amnesty for criminals, and fewer safeguards for law abiding American families. We cannot afford to return to that.
“Over the last year, President Trump, Secretary Noem, and our brave ICE and CBP officers have gone to great lengths to fix the problems created by weak immigration and enforcement policies under Joe Biden. President Trump expanded ICE, strengthened enforcement, and directed agents to locate, arrest, and deport dangerous offenders. Thanks to his leadership, our communities are noticeably safer than they were one year ago.
“Weakening ICE now would drag the country backward. Strong enforcement works. The numbers prove it.”
