WASHINGTON, DC –  Today, The American Border Story (TABS) released the following statement applauding ICE for arresting the illegal immigrant responsible for the tragic, preventable deaths of a young newlywed couple in Oregon last November:

“Rajinder Kumar, the illegal immigrant responsible for a horrific crash that claimed two innocent lives, was released back into the community on April 2 after Oregon officials refused to cooperate with ICE. Thankfully, ICE refused to back down and took decisive action to arrest Kumar, who is now undergoing removal proceedings. This tragedy underscores a systemic failure that continues to endanger communities across the nation.

“TABS extends its deepest condolences to the victims’ families and loved ones. No American family should have to endure such a tragedy, especially one that could have been prevented through stronger enforcement and accountability.

“This incident is another devastating reminder of the fatal consequences of failed immigration enforcement and sanctuary policies. It reinforces the urgent need for Congress to pass Dalilah’s Law without delay. This critical legislation would strengthen road safety, ensure greater accountability for non-citizen drivers, and help prevent dangerous individuals like Kumar from slipping through the cracks.

“Every day Congress fails to act is another day American lives are placed at unnecessary risk. Lawmakers must put politics aside and prioritize the safety of American citizens by advancing and passing Dalilah’s Law immediately.”
