WASHINGTON, DC –  The American Border Story (TABS) today released the following statement condemning the lasting consequences of the Biden administration’s “catch and release” immigration policies, including the recent death of 62-year-old Christopher Babcock in North Carolina:

“Even more than a year into a new administration, American families are still paying the price for Joe Biden’s reckless policies that allowed criminal illegal aliens to be released into our communities. Christopher Babcock’s life mattered. His family’s loss is permanent, and it underscores the human cost of failed leadership.

“Ernesto Lopez-Gomez, a Mexican national who had previously entered the United States illegally and was released into the country in 2024, has been charged with felony hit-and-run resulting in death. Lopez-Gomez fled the scene after striking Christopher Babcock, who later died from his injuries.

“This is yet another preventable tragedy resulting from policies that prioritized illegal immigrants over American citizens. The Biden administration created long-term consequences in communities across the country that are still unfolding today.

“TABS extends our deepest condolences to the Babcock family, condemns catch-and-release policies, and calls for all lingering sanctuary policies to be dismantled across the nation before another American family loses a loved one.”
