WASHINGTON, DC – Today, The American Border Story (TABS) released the following statement urging the Senate to confirm Senator Markwayne Mullin as the next Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security, following a vote in the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee to advance his nomination to the full Senate:
“At a time of increasing pressure from transnational criminal networks and growing threats from foreign adversaries, the United States needs fierce and committed leadership at the helm of one of its most critical agencies. Amid DHS funding uncertainty caused by the Democrat-led partial government shutdown, the need for decisive, experienced leadership has never been more urgent.
“Senator Mullin’s advancement out of committee is a vital step toward restoring strength and safety to the American homeland. The Senate must now move swiftly to confirm his nomination and ensure that the department is equipped to carry out its core mission: securing our borders, enforcing our immigration laws, and protecting the American people.
