WASHINGTON, DC – The American Border Story (TABS) today issued the following statement condemning New York’s bail reform laws and sanctuary policies after three Salvadoran nationals in Suffolk County were arrested with Molotov cocktails and gasoline – intended for a targeted firebombing – only to be subsequently released:
“New York’s leadership is dangerously out of touch. Their reckless policies and continued prioritization of illegal immigrants over law-abiding citizens are putting communities at risk. When individuals accused of planning a violent attack utilizing explosive devices are released, serious questions must be raised about who these policies are truly protecting.
“This is a clear failure of leadership. Three Salvadoran nationals were released back into the community after police found Molotov cocktails and gasoline in their vehicle, along with evidence of a planned firebombing. Despite facing felony weapons charges, they were simply let go under current law.
“Governor Kathy Hochul continues to stand by failed policies even as cases like this expose their consequences. New Yorkers deserve leadership that puts public safety first. These policies must be reversed before innocent people are put in harm’s way.
“TABS is calling on New York officials to end sanctuary policies, restore judicial discretion in bail decisions, and prioritize the safety of American citizens.”
