WASHINGTON, DC – Today, The American Border Story (TABS) issued the following statement after a four-time deported illegal immigrant with a lengthy criminal record shoved two men onto subway tracks in New York City, leaving an 83-year-old Air Force veteran in critical condition:
“Our thoughts and prayers are with Richard Williams and his family as he fights for his life after this horrific attack. No American — especially a veteran who served our country — should ever have to endure violence like this on our streets.
“This tragedy was entirely preventable. The suspect is a serial criminal and four-time deported illegal alien who should never have been able to walk our streets. He was deported during President Trump’s first term, but returned again — likely a direct consequence of the weak border enforcement under Joe Biden’s leadership.
“Even more outrageous is the fact that we still do not know whether New York officials will honor the ICE detainer on this violent offender. Under New York’s reckless sanctuary policies, dangerous criminals are too often released back into our communities instead of being turned over to federal authorities.
“Mayor Mamdani and other sanctuary politicians have actively worked to shield criminal illegal aliens from immigration enforcement, effectively turning New York City into a refuge for violent offenders who should be removed from the country. The numbers speak for themselves: more than 7,000 illegal aliens currently in New York custody have active ICE detainers, including individuals accused of homicide and other violent crimes.
“New York officials must honor this ICE detainer and remove this violent offender once and for all. Leaders who continue to obstruct immigration enforcement must be held accountable for the consequences of these reckless policies.”
