WASHINGTON, DC – The American Border Story (TABS) today issued a forceful condemnation of Governor Abigail Spanberger’s sanctuary policies and efforts to limit cooperation between local law enforcement and ICE, following the tragic stabbing death of Stephanie Minter at a Fairfax County bus stop.
“On Sunday, a Fairfax County resident was brutally murdered at a bus stop by an illegal immigrant with more than 30 prior arrests who had been repeatedly released under policies supported by Governor Spanberger. The suspect, Abdul Jallo, had also been charged five times with malicious wounding since 2023. Despite this staggering criminal record, he was neither jailed nor deported after repeated offenses.
“Governor Spanberger’s catch and release approach allowed a dangerous repeat offender to remain on the streets, and an innocent woman lost her life as a result. This tragedy was preventable. When elected officials restrict law enforcement from cooperating fully with federal immigration authorities, violent criminals remain in our communities and law-abiding citizens suffer the consequences.
“Deporting violent criminals who are in this country unlawfully is a basic responsibility of any government committed to public safety and justice. No family should endure the devastation of losing a loved one because politicians chose to shield repeat offenders instead of removing them from our streets.
“The American Border Story calls on Governor Spanberger to immediately end sanctuary policies in Virginia and restore full cooperation between local law enforcement and ICE. Public officials have a duty to put the safety of American citizens first. Virginia cannot afford another preventable tragedy caused by policies that place illegal immigrants with violent records ahead of innocent victims.”
